Responsibility
Based Maintenance Plan:
- In order to offer instruments to students and
have the instruments facilitate the educational experience the school's Musical Instrument Inventory must be in good repair.
This provides a base to refer to in the case accidental damage or vandalism
occurs.
- Prepare a document such as a "Receipt and Bond" to allow
students to be bonded return instruments in the same physical
condition as check out, with exception of "Fair Wear and Tear"
covered by a maintenance fee.
- Check-in and evaluate all instruments at the end of each season,
to allow students to take
responsibility for any damage beyond "Fair Wear and Tear"
that they may have caused..
- Maintain and return all Instruments to good repair,
so that they are ready for the next season.

Maintenance Tracker
This is a demo for an extremely useful Windows database, set
up to track the maintenance of musical instruments. It
can also track who the instrument is checked out to, the
original purchase price and date, and all repair work that
has been done to the instrument. It can store images of the
instruments as well, to give a student a before picture to
compare with the instrument when it is returned. It can also
be used to track uniforms, music, etc.

Take Care! Take Pride!
A Video Guide to Musical Instrument Care
MusiCare Productions has been selling these videos to
schools nationwide for the past 15 years. This year we
completed the conversion of these videos to DVD. This format
affords the truly interactive experience for the student
musician that we imagined at the time we created the
original video tapes. The DVDs are available for, Trumpet
(piston valve instruments), French Horn (rotary valve
instruments), Trombone, Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone and Oboe.
The school package of all seven DVD also includes and after
registering access to downloadable PDF Files of "CareCardstm"
and an Instructors Manual. This package is available to
schools for $139.95.
